The clubhouse in the historic town of St. Andrews is more than a great place to play outdoor and indoor bowls. It’s designed to be a lasting hub for the entire community featuring a function hall seating more than 100 that can be modified to serve as a three-lane indoor bowling area.
As this is a multi-use development in an urban setting, there were many considerations we had to take into account. We had to ensure ongoing maintenance and sustainability was at the heart of our designs as well as compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act. Other challenges included customised and controllable lighting to easily change the use of the indoor bowling lanes to the function room, as well as providing a ventilation system to provide heat recovery and reduce energy use while minimising noise transmission to nearby houses.
